Freising

Freising with its beautiful old town, Domberg, Weihenstephan, the Neustift ... is known all over the world and always worth a visit. Cardinal Ratzinger, formerly Archbishop of Munich-Freising and later Pope Benedict XVI is inextricably linked with Freising. Freising is a university town and research centre, cathedral and episcopal city, a lively and popular city for young and old. Freising lives up to its long history of horticulture and gardening in many places, not least with the Weihenstephaner Sichtungsgärten, the educational and research gardens, where shrubs and woody plants as well as new varieties of roses are investigated. That’s why Freising is also known as the city of roses and gardens.
