Oktoberfest Munich – let’s go to the Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest in Munich – also called ‘Oktoberfest’ – attracts visitors from all over the world to visit Munich. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make the trip to Oktoberfest to experience the largest and most famous folk festival in the world.

The next Oktoberfest in Munich will take place from Saturday, 16.09.2023 to Sunday 03.10.2021.


The Oktoberfest starts with the following events:  

  • Saturday, 11.00 a.m. grand parade of Oktoberfest beer-tent operators and breweries   
  • Saturday, 12:00 Wiesn tapping and thus official opening of the Oktoberfest   
  • Sunday, 10:00 costume and sharpshooter parades through Munich

Arrival to the Oktoberfest

Traditionally, the locals naturally arrive on foot or by public transport or taxi. Not only because the search for parking space is no fun but also because of the excellent opportunity to enjoy beer on the Wiesn.

The easiest way to reach the Oktoberfest from Hotel Huberhof is via the P+R Fröttmanning car park and the U6 underground. Exit Goetheplatz or Poccistrasse. Alternatively, by taxi to Freising, with the S1 to Marienplatz and from there change to the U6 towards Klinikum Großhadern, exit Goetheplatz.


Tips for the Oktoberfest

  • When to go to the Wiesn?
    It can get crowded at the Oktoberfest! The tents are bursting at the seams on weekends with good weather. For those who prefer it somewhat quieter, check out the stress barometer on the Oktoberfest-Website and, perhaps, go to Munich on another day.

    You can easily get lost on the huge grounds of the Theresienwiese and in the crowds. You can find an map with an overview of all tents and rides on the Oktoberfest website. For example, the classic: the Krinoline, which has been at the Oktoberfest since 1924.
  • Stylishly dressed
